Hand-dyed wool plays well with a full spectrum colored quilt—pattern by Nancy Rink.
The quilts are rooted in traditional styles. Color influenced the tone of each quilt, which was then enhanced with a basket of hand-dyed wool and highlights of thread and beads.
Over the past thirty years, I've learned there will always be greater quilters than I am, but I’ve also learned that I have been “called” to be a quilter. “Find something you love to do, which motivates you to do more.”
The feel of cotton and wool against my fingers draws me in. Next is the search for the colors and textures that brings a quilt to life. I enjoy the extraordinary designs, traditional and modern, that are available to quilters. With all the excellent fabric prints and colors, I’m happiest making a wool applique quilt with some scrappy blocks.
When my Dad taught me to use a sewing machine, those early skills grew into clothes for myself and eventually for the family I was raising.
I’ve always had “busy hands.” As a child I designed and made doll clothes. Dollhouses did not escape me either. My early dollhouses were cardboard structures taped and glued together.
